If you have ever strolled down the bustling, high-energy stretch of Istiklal Street in Istanbul, you know how hard it can be to find a spot where you can escape the crowds, enjoy a decent meal, and take in the city from above.
Midpoint has long been a staple of Turkish casual dining, and their location in the heart of Istiklal is famous for its stunning terrace. On my recent visit, I wanted to see if this popular chain location lives up to the prime real estate it occupies. Coming in at around 600–800 TL per person, it offers a solid mid-tier option—but it does come with a couple of caveats.
The Standout: A Breath-Taking Terrace View
The absolute crown jewel of this Midpoint location is its terrace view. Perched high above the chaos of the street below, the terrace offers a spectacular, sweeping panoramic view of Istanbul that instantly elevates your dining experience. Whether you're stopping by for an afternoon coffee or a sunset dinner, watching the city move from this vantage point is worth the trip alone. The ambiance strikes a nice balance between trendy and casual, making it a great spot to rest your feet after a long day of shopping or exploring.
The Food: Decent Taste & Lightning-Fast Prep
When it comes to the menu, Midpoint is known for its massive, global selection ranging from pastas and burgers to traditional local dishes. We found the food to have a decent taste, it’s consistent, satisfying, and exactly what you’d expect from a well-established mid-tier chain. It won't necessarily blow a seasoned foodie away, but it reliably hits the spot.
One area where they truly excel is their kitchen speed. Even with a large menu, their serving time is incredibly quick. Our dishes arrived piping hot and surprisingly fast after ordering, which is a massive plus if you are on a tight schedule or heading to a nearby event.

Room for Improvement: The Staff Shortage
While the kitchen operates like a well-oiled machine, the floor service tells a different story. Because this branch is located in one of the most heavily trafficked areas in the city, it is almost always full to capacity.
Unfortunately, it feels like they simply do not have enough staff members to handle the sheer volume of customers. The waiters work incredibly hard and are polite, but they are clearly stretched thin. We found ourselves waiting a bit too long to catch a server's eye just to ask for the bill or request water. If management could increase the floor staff numbers during peak hours, it would completely transform the experience from good to great.
The Verdict: Is it Worth It?
With a bill averaging 600–800 TL per person, Midpoint Istiklal sits comfortably in the mid-tier bracket. For that price point, you get decent food, lightning-fast serving times, and an absolutely priceless view of Istanbul. As long as you go in expecting a bit of a wait for table service during rush hours, it remains a highly recommended stop for a casual meal with a spectacular backdrop.
